We are very lucky, here in the West Country, to have on hand one of the most innovative Garden and Estate Designers in the UK:

 

. Mary Payne MBE

Mary trained in horticulture at Studley College and Cambridge
University Botanic Garden. She holds the prestigious Master of Horticulture
qualification of the RHS for which she received an award as a top student. In
2004, she also received an MBE for Services to Horticulture in the South West
in the Queen’s Birthday Honours
Mary presented a weekly gardening programme ‘Garden Calendar’ for three
years on HTV and is now a regular panelist for the ITV1 Garden Roadshow
which is held at flower shows around the country. She is a regular gardening
contributor to BBC Radio Bristol and is also well established as a tutor for
popular local gardening courses and lecturer to garden clubs nationwide.
As well as her work lecturing and presenting, Mary was also responsible for
the hugely innovative planting at Lady Farm, Chelwood, near Bristol which was voted as
one of the top 10 English gardens by viewers of BBC Gardener’s World, and which is now
a Mecca for plant enthusiasts and photographers from around the World.
Among many of her current projects are Timperley Gardens in Devon and we will soon be able to see pictures of 'before' and 'after'. Her own garden opens for the National Gardens Scheme and is listed in the
Good Gardens Guide. It has been featured in Garden News, English Garden,
Gardener’s World Magazine, Sainsbury’s Magazine, Amateur Gardening and
the London Evening Standard, to name just a few.

Mary has agreed to be a Consultant, not only to scan the planting plans that we send out under our' Borders by Post' section, but also to invite Clients with substantial projects to take advantage of her extensive knowledge and experience of larger projects.
